Unlimited Free Space: Comprehensive Waterfront Plan

Transcripts - Getting weird...

USI leaves the plant shop and makes a circuit around the Sanitation Pier to discover a team of firemen dealing with a burning pier.

VJ
What do you think about unlimited free space?
FIREMAN
I think they should put more golf courses around here.
VJ
You golf?
FIREMAN
No.
Park Cop
Excuse me, who are you folks? Who are you?
VJ/BK
We are USI.
PP
Meaning?
ND
Unlimited Specialist International.
PP
Which - uhhh - does what?
VJ
We do surveys on unlimited free space.
PP
Oh, I see.
ND
In this instance. At other times, other surveys.
PP
Okay.
ND
Borderlines.
PP
Okay.
VJ
[to fireman] So you're like, putting out fires?
PP
Is this for a university?
ND
University? Why, thank you. Do you think we look that young? I wish I was still that young.
FIREMAN
Whadda they need it to see if they could like build stuff on it or somethin?
ND
Well, there is a plan to develop the waterfront. And that's mostly like parks. [to Park Police officer] You probably know about that. Right?
PP
Right.
ND
And we're just going around and seeing how it's used now. And talking to different people about that plan and how it can be used. We don't really have any preconceived notions about it.
FIREMAN
Somebody wants to use it for a different purpose and you're supposed to see if it's more applicable as parks?
ND
Yeah.
VJ
Yeah.
FIREMAN
In other words, a private company hired you probably. Right?
ND
Actually, we're funded by a government.
FIREMAN
What government?
ND
A European government, Austrian.
PP
This is gettin' weird.
ND
It's true, though.
VJ
How did this fire start?
FIREMAN
It was some unlimited space specialists runnin' around.
VJ
Yeah?
ND
Because they have waterfront there and they're interested in ways that it's being used here and how they might use it there.
PP
And you've been in contact with developers and HRPC?
ND
Yeah.
PP
Okay.
ND
We have the Comprehensive Waterfront Plan and the map that they gave us.
FIREMAN
[to VJ] How long you been here?
VJ
Five years.
BK
[to PP] What do you think about the waterfront plan? You like that?
PP
Sounds good.
BK
You think that they will do it?
PP
Yeah.
BK
It's a lot of stuff to do.
PP
They have the money.
BK
They have the money?
ND
Good night!
