the poet
(for al horvath)
by mark solars

a poet turns his insides out.
there is nothing hidden
to the eye and heart
of the world.
he has power
to give sight to the blind,
to make mad rivers
into quiet music,
to turn death into humor,
and make a woman love a man.

that being said,
there are not enough ears
or eyes in the world
that are ever open.
