<eyebeam><blast> Fire

Right now there is a gigantic fire in the north of Brazil, close to
Venezuela, that has already swallowed up 38,000 square kilometers, 1/3
od the state of Roraima. There are entire cities blocked by the fire. Up
to yesterday there has been no international help for these people at
all. The fire has been going on for weeks. A squadron of Argentine
firemen started working yesterday. I haven't seen any news about this in
the New York Times. This may have have a very strong effect on the
global weather -besides destroying the local ecosysytem.

Is the net -are we- ready to do something about these kind of things? At
least promoting solidarity, spreading the news, helping in any way? I
think this is an urgent question.
