One has to wonder what does the citizen want in this mutational society
of ours?Who are they exactly?You have the globe trotter,the
peripherial worker who never visits the city center and
surroundings,don't know their neighbouring streets...Architects do
have to respond to very concrete situations,requiring very modest
urbanist gestures...it's not always an interplanetary question.
If the city once was a ctizen entity,it is nowdays strongly linked to
consumerism.
It seems that where things get organized is the chaos.Urban chaos
results from a multiplicity of control devices:Security,police,
ministry,civil engineering,...the mingling of these different languages
does not allow for a real place to subsist.
The profession creates a new concept,every other cycles,to jumpstart
the machine.These concepts do not provide consistancy and a durable
development,but it seems to be necessary to engage the economical
investments in projects further.Who can bring a project to term with
chaos and incertitude for support?Architects are sometimes naif and
complice.They exorcise the chaos by selling the image which reassures
the officials,but never fully acomplishes the product,lack of money.
