Deshalb trägt es auch seine Augen oben am Scheitel, damit es sehen kann, wenn die Melonen vom Melonenbaum herabfallen. Die Bauern verfolgen diese Plage ihrer Melonengärten, aber das Tier ist bekannt für die Fähigkeit, die menschliche Stimme anmutig nachahmen zu können: So lockt es die Bauern in die Irre und flüchtet selbst in die Wipfel der Melonenbäume.
