ROLAND SABATIER

Born in Toulouse, France, in 1942. Since 1963, Sabatier has been participating in Lettriste publications and exhibitions, with paintings, hypergraphic novels such as Gaffe au golf (1964), theatre, and sound poetry.

Sabatier's varied works in the 1960’s include imaginative approaches such as "Inflatable Painting-Sculpture," "Smelly paintings," "Sound Paintings," and "Warming Painting." More recently, he has created "Works for Dogs" (1991). His cinema illustrates the Lettriste approach to the 7th art, and has been collected in Oeuvres de cinéma, covering 1963-1983.

Sabatier is one of the central organizers and promoters of Lettriste exhibitions, and is the author of the important study, Le Lettrisme: les créations et les créateurs (1989).
