One form in which Convalescence exists is as a two channel video performance and installation. In this work, visitors are invited to hear one of five fictional stories that involve death or near death experiences.

During the stories, video monitors show images that one might find on a hospital's various health monitoring devices. Between the stories, however, the performer rests and "unconscious" images of what she might be dreaming appear. These images reflect the events that occur in the stories.

The five stories, with their accompanying video images, describe the flow of visions which connect the irrational body in pain to the rational, speaking person.
