sure, I can definitely echo aspects of your experience: it feels like I've
got a sharply defined inner-me and outer-me working together to navigate
the formula-plasm that drips off every surface (conceptual "surfaces" as
well as physical)... although the sensibility of the experience is hard to
verbalize; maybe Jeff Koons, back when his work mattered, expressed the
essence of the problem with his chrome metal inflatable bunny. I am driving
through an isolated area, the radio plays "music" that follows very
structured formulas, each hook, each guitar bloink, each breathy sigh, is
as predictable as the reading of a stale religious text... the deejay with
his formula "name" delivers his barely enthusiastic spiel to the concept
package that was prepared for the radio station. There are companies that
develop "concepts", the entire everything, for station owners to format for
their local markets... it is mentally airless, like breathing pure carbon
dioxide...
and those are the, uh, hip stations. Wait till you get the truckers
stations that play on the am spectrum at three in the morning playing joke
tracks like "moose turd pie" and some gnarly bourbon'n'beer sloshed country
desperado white trash circuit band snorgling about driving his pickup truck
into the train...
But then, also, for the first time, after years of trying and thinking
I'd never get it, doing some chi-gong exercise, I felt the chi move
widthwise out of my spine... it was the most ungodly sensation, like
cellular energy heat... but one has so damn little to do with the other...
