I have a vague memory of horses being important to the development of Doric
culture in Greece, the introduction of swiftness, I suppose, and the
possibility of empire. I'd never thought of it as a technology but, yes, I
guess it was. The represenation of a horse finally brought down Troy. And
Alexander not only conquered his known world he tamed an untamable horse.
