tell you that it is saturated with art, or decoration, everywhere you look.
The bridges have garudas on either end of them to ward off demons. They
have modern services, but they still put up special demon protection zones
in the roads if there's been an accident and the victim still lives but is
in a coma, because in a coma the demons will enter through the place in the
road where the accident took place. You have this culture with a modern
western map overlaid on a Bali Hindu map overlaid onto an ancient oceanic
map. It is possible to see spirit energy fields in certain places in Bali,
the air has a strange beautiful shimmer to it around the sacred totems,
that is if the consciousness field is in a mood to have a telepathic
conversation with you. The priests have to be very alert to the second
order of reality and make sure that it doesn't collide with hard reality...
their job is to keep things sorted out.... that's why their art doesn't
bothet to distinguish much betwee foreground and background like ours
does... they keep switching back and forth, but the vanishing points are in
mindspace as well as physical space...
