Dear Brad (and everyone),

A bodyscan at Cyberware is really a fun experience! You should see the
first artists 3D scan by Eva Wohlgemuth, at http://thing.at/bodyscan. IN a
pop~TOPIC 'the Fe-mail data_set' Margarete Jahrmann and I also use it as an
example in our text for Telepolis Journal:
http://www.ix.de/tp/po/4063/fhome.htm (German) and
http://www.ix.de/tp/po/4064/fhome.htm (English).

I was there with Eva to document the scan, and can report that the technical
staff and everyone at the company is quite professional, and willing to
explain their technique, tell great stories, and help you decode the data
(afterwards). It takes a SGI to really process the 35 megabytes which you
leave with...but Eva worked on a Power Mac (which was working night and day
for a long time....) to develop her installation based on the experience,
and the concept of existing also as a full-body data_set.

A bit of practical reference, as that is what I find most useful in these
discussions, relating the theoretical to the real...and liking the process
of background thinking while hacking away at other online functions...

Kathy Rae Huffman (in cloudy, wet Vienna)

PS.. the actual bodyscan takes 17 seconds, but there is a lot of prep. time,
and testing out...it all adds up to more than an hour (eventually) but they
only charged Eva for one hour.
