Yes, I find these incongruencies compelling.

I am familiar with the engineering disaster/utopian dream that "created"
the Salton Sea. The Army Corps of Engineers early in the century decided to
try to irrigate the Imperial Valley and further extend the boundaries of
land capable of supporting lots of citrus groves by diverting water from
the COlorado River thru a series of canals they built. The river busted
through the canals, sending billions of gallons of fresh water into the
Salton Sink (Ancient Lake Cahuilla). The land, having at one time been part
of the Gulf, had lots of salt in it. Voila! an unexpected "recreational
salt lake" appears in the wake of a major blunder! oops... Gotta make up
for it by selling lots to unsuspecting utopianites.

The way in which such cultural productions end up blurred with natural
phenomena dusts my imagination with uncertainty and indeterminacy, and sets
me on strange trajectories. The aspect of indeterminacy in virtual space is
also of interest. Where are we? (I'm not to the why and how yet)
