The Sculpture Projects

Part 1: Anthology or Things That Might Have Been Billboards in Münster. For the first part of the project I made photographs of various objects being used by the different artists taking part in The Sculpture Projects, of tools or materials used for the production of their artworks. All these objects and details were "invisible" before because nobody recognized them as something valuable. I considered them as "finished" and "perfect" art works. All photographs from this part of the project were taken at sites where art works were being created. Thirty selected images were printed in an edition of one hundred each and were presented as a black and white posters on the streets of the city.



Part 2: Travels and Leaves Behind An installation of 40 black and white photographs, 30 x 40 cm each, exhibited in the Westfälisches Landesmuseum. For the second part of the project I made photographs from various objects used as tools or materials by the construction workers during the restoration of the museum. All these objects were also considered as sculptures (artworks). It was a show that took place before the museum was open to the pubic. Forty selected photographs documenting this show were presented as an installation in the museum and became "museum pieces." "We only see what we look for, but we only look for what we can see" -Heinrich Wölfflin No one thing exists for people if it has no name. The role of artist is in giving names to things.
