Remember the Mayor's favorite restaurant, which wanted to buy another building's backyard???

The tenants of the building at 166-170 Mulberry Street need our urgent help again. HPD now seems willing to sell the tenants the city-owned building they have lived in for years, but only if they agree to let the city "sell" their backyard to neighboring Da Nico Restaurant, at a very low rent for at least 45 years. DaNico would then have the right to sell their business with the backyard to anyone for any amount of money. The tenants would be required to buy the backyard when they buy the building property but would have no control over the backyard lessee.

Community Board 2 voted to disapprove this proposal, and support the tenants. This Wednesday the City Planning Commission is holding a hearing to decide if they find it legal & proper. After that the proposal will go before the City Council.

PLEASE COME TO THIS HEARING TO SHOW THEM LITTLE ITALY STICKS BY ITS LONG-TIME RESIDENTS. Sign-in, but you don't have to speak.

The City Planning Public Meeting regarding the building will be held on:

          Wednesday, February 16, 10:00 a.m.

in the Board of Estimate Chambers

          at City Hall, 2nd Floor

People should sign in and mark against the proposal. The ULURP (uniform land use etc.) number is C000092.
