An important bill is now awaiting Governor Pataki's signature -- bill no. A8638 -- that will amend the Alcoholic Beverage Control Law to provide 15-day written notice to Community Boards and interested parties before 500 foot hearings AND also creates a new class of license under the Alcoholic Beverage Control Law for Cabarets with capacities of over 600 people (a/k/a "mega clubs").
Please call Governor Pataki with your support (if indeed you do support it) as this bill is on his desk NOW, awaiting signature. The 15-day notice for 500 foot hearing is very important as now, Community Boards and interested parties (Block Associations, Merchant Associations, residents, etc.) usually receive less than 7 days notice.
