Rochelle Ratner -- "Hide & Seek "

HIDE AND SEEK
(for Nancy)

I said I never look good
in photographs

and you said you never
capture people well.

How right that Dave
put this on the cover
printed in silver

so it becomes a maze,
the features barely discernable.
You don't like trick photography
you said

but this was the device
of a good photographer

to pick out just the spot,
reflecting me in that window
I sat in front of.

It's two years since we got together
as friends, and I'm far enough away
to understand: we played the same game.
