First Light: An Anthology of Paraguayan Women Writers
(This was the first such anthology published anywhwere,
in any medium. Among other significances, Paraguay is a
country whose literature is largely composed by women.
Many Write in Guaraní, a Native American language that was old
when the Conquistadors arrived; many of those who write in Guaraní
translate their own work into Spanish, or compose in both languages
simultaneously.
