Introduction to

SCALEMBRIC

by

Marilyn R. Rosenberg

Of this book, Marilyn R. Rosenberg writes:

A complex and special binding of many colored papers fold, interfold, and unfold to become part of the content of this book. Threads (remniniscent of hair) and string, painterly and drawn keys and scissors/shears live their strange lives, as they float above dense grey-blue, thick black, warm red-violet, rusty orange and neutral environments. Miscelaneous media include a wide variety of color papers, black string, orange cord, water color and gauche, permanent inks, found and created collage, beads, brass fastener, and more. Visual Poetry and implied language make this a transitional piece. Accordion folds interfold as they become sculpture. Tactile image seems word. Strings dangle then cling.

7 1/2" x 8 1/2" when closed, can be folded out and set up in numerous configurations, taking up different amounts of space depending on how it's set up. One-of-a-kind. 1989.
