Alison Knowles Alison Knowles was born in New York City in 1933. She is a visual artist and poet, doing sound works, radio shows and installations. She attended Middlebury College and graduated from Pratt Institute. A founding member of Fluxus, she has also taught at California Institute of the Arts. A House of Dust, a computer-generated poem won her a Guggenheim fellowship. Spoken Texts contains her complete writings from the last decade. She lives and works in New York City and Barrytown, New York, a stone's throw from the Hudson River.
